With long opening hours, the library has quiet study areas, networked PCs and access to over 47,000 online journals, databases, e-books and library catalogues. There is a hospitality section within the library and a book shop on campus should you wish to purchase your own copies.

Students have access to a range of sports during their time at the Edge Hotel School - whether you are an elite athlete or just want to keep fit. There are more than 50 clubs to join ranging from football and hockey to water polo and kickboxing. There are outstanding facilities, with nearly 40 acres of the campus dedicated to sport and a large, well-equipped gym and fitness centre.

Colchester - Your Town
The University of Essex Colchester campus is located just outside of the town in beautiful parkland. Colchester is an exciting and modern town with a thriving cultural, arts and entertainment scene including music venues, theatres, a cinema and art galleries. It is also popular for shopping with a mixture of large department stores and smaller individual shops. There is also a huge range of restaurants, coffee houses, wine bars, pubs and clubs.
The Edge Hotel School and University of Essex have a comprehensive range of support services that are designed to help students achieve their full potential and get the most out of their studies here. These form a coordinated network of support and are an important part of the overall student experience.
Each Edge Hotel School student is assigned an academic mentor, with whom they meet on a regular basis. Your mentor is there to guide and support you through your entire course.
University of Essex Student Support offers advice on many welfare issues, including finance and funding, entitlement to benefits and immigration issues. They also administer hardship funds, and provide support to disabled students. The service is confidential. Students' Union Advice
The Students' Union Advice Centre provides information, advice, representation and referral services. It offers practical help and advice on most welfare issues including money, housing, immigration, employment and legal matters. The service is strictly confidential, impartial, independent and free to all students. The Centre is staffed by fully-trained volunteers, with constant support from permanent members of staff. They are based on the Colchester Campus. As well as a drop-in service, they offer advice to students via telephone and e-mail.
